Description: 66 Years ago, on July 11, 1944, the worst air disaster in Maine's history occurred in South Portland. Here are photos of the 1st memorial dedicated to the memory of both the victims and the survivors.

A bell was tolled for each victim as their name was read and a family surviving member rang the bell. Survivors present of that day so long ago Scarborough Rotary President was also present to represent the club's contribution The etching that is on the side of the monument
