Bob Fowler, Executive Director of Milestone Foundation was the guest speaker at the meeting of Tuesday April 11th.

Bob talked about the current crisis of drug and alcohol addiction. Milestone Foundation provides services to empower individuals with substance use and behavioral health disorders to attain stability, dignity, recovery and an enhanced quality of life. That includes emergency shelter, medically managed detoxification and long-term treatment in Portland and Old Orchard Beach, Maine

“The social problems of addiction and homelessness are tremendously complex. Whether at an individual or systemic level, there are multiple and complicated factors that lead to these issues, and the remedies are never straightforward. And while Milestone plays a critical role in our communities in helping people suffering with these challenges, we are aware that we are but a cog in the larger machine that’s required to move from problem to solution.” [i]

The foundation is sponsoring a commemorative motorcycle ride on September 9th to benefit Milestone’s addiction and homeless services.
