April 8th Meeting

Again, Rick introduced his office neighbor Kath Bartlett owner of Bartlett Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine at 7 Oak Hill Terrace.  She was our February 11th speaker when she presented:  “What Acupuncture is all about”. Tonight she returned.  After serving us herbal tea, she explained the other side of her practice, Chinese Medicine.

Remember   Rick had described her office as housing a bug collection. They are used in conjunction with compounding various remedies. In addition she mixes herbal powders or packages various herbs with instructions for preparation. Each compounding event is unique to each patient.  During follow-up visits, she will evaluate and adjust the blend as appropriate.

“When thinking about Chinese medicine, most people are familiar with acupuncture but don’t realize that acupuncture is just one part of a unified, holistic system of medicine, developed in China five to seven thousand years ago. This system called Traditional Chinese Medicine (or more simply, TCM) is practiced in hospitals in throughout China and central Asia.”
