New Scarborough High School Principal Dave Creech reached out to local organizations to help welcome the class of 2017 on their first day of high school. The goal was to reinforce the relationship between school and community, and let the students (and staff & faculty) know that the community cares about their success as students and future citizens.

Several service clubs sent representatives to the 8:15 AM breakfast, and spoke to the incoming freshmen about service learning opportunities. They each addressed the class about their respective clubs and what they do. Then they had an opportunity to walk around, mingle and talk to the freshmen.

Deb Pease spoke about Interact and encouraged the new students to get involved. This was an awesome opportunity to encourage our young high schoolers to become involved with their community and Interact is the perfect platform for them to do just that.
